SUMMER CAMPS FOR KIDS at the PMA! |
|
Still looking for exciting opportunities for your children? Let them showcase their creativity and express themselves at the Pensacola Museum of Art! We will be hosting three unique camps that will allow your kids to have a blast while developing their skills, learning the basic principles of art and design, and diving into art history. Each camp will feature a variety of distinct lessons and activities that will be conducted by the PMA’s Education Coordinator.
Open to ages 6-12
Cost is $70 for PMA members and $85 for non-members
Camps will be held Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. –12 p.m.
A mid-morning snack will be provided (please inform us of any allergies/dietary needs) Each camp will culminate in a group exhibition with a reception for friends and family
Camp 1: June 22-26 “Culture Shock!” Miguel Zapata: An Eternal Perspective and Jaune Quick-to-See: Made in America
During the first camp, we will explore the works of Spanish artist Miguel Zapata and Native American artist Jaune Quick-to-See. We will focus on the unique styles and techniques of these two amazing artists, as well as “traveling” around the globe to take a peek at other cultures and see how their perception and creation of art may differ from our own!
Camp 2: July 6-10 “Member Me?” Member’s Juried Exhibition
Next in the series, students will view the Member’s Juried Exhibition, an annual show that features the wide variety of talent and creativity of our diverse membership. Portraits, landscape, abstract work, photography, and sculpture will all be addressed in a variety of mediums and formats. This week, we will cover everything but the kitchen sink! (unless, of course, your little Duchamp has other plans!!)
Camp 3: July 20-24 “Your Passport, S’il Vous Plais” Passport to Paris: 19th Century French Prints
During the 19th Century, French artists such as Monet, Cezanne, Seurat, Renoir, and Degas created some of the most celebrated and groundbreaking works of all time. Students will explore the works featured in Passport to Paris: 19th Century French Prints, as well as many of that era’s most influential paintings and artists. We will focus on the primary movements during this time through a variety of exciting activities.
Please contact Patrick Jennings, Education Coordinator at 432-6247 for registration. Thanks!
