It’s hard to believe, but with spring upon us, summer is not far behind! Have you had a chance to decide how you will spend all that free time? The PMA might be the answer you are looking for. With three unique, week long summer camps, each designed to stimulate you children’s creativity and sharpen their artistic skills, there should be plenty of fun and excitement to last all summer long.
Camps offered at the PMA will be conducted throughout the summer by the PMA’s Education Coordinator. For each of the camps the following information applies:
-Open to ages 6-14 -Cost is $70 for PMA members and $85 for -non-members -Camps will be held Mondays through Fridays from 9 am to 12 pm -A mid morning snack will be provided (please let us know of any allergies/dietary needs -Each camp will culminate in a group exhibition with a reception for family and friends -Registration begins April 15
Camp 1: Absolutely Abstract June 23 – 27
The first camp of the year will focus on the exhibition Facing Abstraction: Refiguring the Body in the 20th Century. Students will view abstract works by many of the artists who shaped the most prominent art movements of the 20th century. We will explore their various techniques and styles and create a variety of abstract and non-objective masterpieces!
Camp 2: Active Members July 14 – 18
Based on the annual Members’ Juried Exhibition, students will view a variety of artwork created by our talented Museum members. Throughout the week, they will explore different mediums represented in this always diverse collection of artwork, and create their own works reflecting the variety of our membership, as well as their own unique creativity.
Camp 3: Looking At Landscape July 28 - August 1
For our third and final camp, students will view the impressive landscape works displayed in the exhibition Spanning the American Vista: Selections from the Spainemann Gallery, NYC. Students will then study various techniques used by artist to create the illusion of space when tackling landscape as a theme in art, and incorporate those techniques into their own original masterpieces.
Registration for all three camps begins April 15. To register, please call the PMA at 850-432-6247. Registration is first come, first serve. For additional information, please contact Patrick Jennings, Education Coordinator, at 432-6247 or by Email
